Roof Recycling and Sure-Seal® EPDM Deliver Sustainable Savings for Large-Scale Retail Distribution Center

When a national retailer needed to replace the aging roof on its 1.2 million-square-foot distribution center in Pittston, PA, sustainability and long-term performance were top priorities. By combining Carlisle’s Sure-Seal EPDM roofing system with its innovative Roof Recycling Program, the project team successfully diverted more than 900,000 square feet of membrane from landfills, turning roofing waste into reusable material while reducing disposal costs. Through close collaboration between the building owner, contractor, and project partners, the team delivered a high-performance roofing solution that not only protects valuable inventory but also advances environmental goals. The project ultimately generated nearly $40,000 in recycling rebates, demonstrating how sustainable roofing practices can create measurable financial and environmental value.
