TecTopics: Differences Between EPDM PS Overlayment, Elastoform, and Cured Cover Strip
This post will discuss the different uses for Carlisle’s EPDM Pressure-Sensitive (PS) Overlayment Strip, EPDM PS Elastoform Flashing, and EPDM PS Cured Cover Strip.
EPDM Pressure-Sensitive Overlayment Strip
Product Data Sheet
What is it? Sure-Seal® Pressure-Sensitive (PS) Overlayment Strip consists of a 40-mil semi-cured EPDM laminated to a 30-mil fully cured, synthetic rubber-based, pressure-sensitive adhesive.
What is it used for? Stripping in gravel stops, metal edging, drip edges, FleeceBACK® end laps, and Carlisle Seam Fastening Plates.
Features and Benefits
- Available in 6" x 100', 9" x 100', and 12" x 50'
- Resists tearing, cracking, and abrasions in all weather conditions
- Speeds installation by up to 50%, reducing labor costs
EPDM Pressure-Sensitive Elastoform Flashing
Product Data Sheet
What is it? Sure-Seal EPDM Pressure-Sensitive (PS) Elastoform Flashing is a nominal 60-mil-thick uncured EPDM membrane, laminated to a nominal 30-mil-thick, fully cured PS adhesive.
What is it used for? This product is self-curing and can be used to flash pipes and scuppers, as well as other rooftop structures and penetrations.
Features and Benefits
- Black available in 6" x 100', 9" x 50', and 12" x 50' rolls; gray available in 12" x 50' rolls
- Gray is approved for use on gray TPO membrane
- Adaptable to irregular shapes and surfaces
- Self-curing membrane
- Labor and cost savings in field applications

Product Data Sheet (white)
What is it? Sure-Seal EPDM Pressure-Sensitive (PS) Cured Cover Strip is a nominal 60-mil-thick, cured EPDM membrane with a nominal 28-mil-thick, fully cured, synthetic rubber pressure-sensitive adhesive.
What is it used for? PS Cured Cover Strip is ideal for stripping in seams and metal edgings, sealing end laps of FleeceBACK systems, or making repairs to cut membrane. PS Cured Cover Strip must be used in conjunction with Carlisle HP-250 or Low-VOC Primer.
Features and Benefits
- Available in 6" x 100', 9" x 100', and 12" x 50' rolls
- As tough as the field membrane
- Fully cured state enables it to handle expansion and contraction loads without weakening
- Resists tearing, flex cracking, and abrasion caused by temperature extremes, sunlight, precipitation
